Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Lady Rebels defeat Nevada women’s basketball in Vegas

LAS VEGAS - UNLV defeated Nevada women's basketball 92-47 Saturday afternoon at Thomas & Mack Center in the first game of the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union.

Junior guard Audrey Roden led Nevada in scoring with a team-high 16 points while redshirt sophomore forward Natalie Lathrop added a career-high eight points off the bench.

Roden hit an early jumper to get Nevada on the board and make it a one possession game early in the first quarter, but UNLV went on a 16-0 scoring run to take a double-digit lead. UNLV finished the quarter shooting 55 percent to go ahead by 20 after the first quarter.

A Lathrop jumper helped the Pack respond quickly out of the gates in the second quarter, but UNLV continued to capitalize on offense with a 3-pointer and a jumper to stay in front. The Lady Rebels stretched their lead by going on a 9-0 scoring run and continued the aggressive offense by drawing fouls to get to the free throw line. UNLV hit five of its final six free throws while shooting 57.1 percent for the second quarter to take the momentum into the locker room.

Nevada continued to fight in the third quarter by going on an early 7-2 scoring run before UNLV responded with five unanswered points. A trio of jumpers by the Lady Rebels allowed UNLV to keep the lead heading into the final 10 minutes.

UNLV continued its hot shooting by shooting 47.3 percent in the final period, finishing the game going 54.9 percent from the field to clinch the first matchup of the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union in 2024.

Nevada returns to Lawlor Events Center Wednesday to take on Utah State at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday's game will celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the University of Nevada.
