RENO, Nev. - Nevada women's basketball promoted
Halie Bergman to assistant coach ahead of the 2023-24 season, head coach
Amanda Levens announced.
Bergman, who served as the program's director of player development from 2021-23, replaced Asami Morita on the Pack's staff. Morita was named head women's basketball coach at Westminster College in Salt Lake City earlier this month.
"Halie has been a tremendous asset to our program as a player, graduate assistant and director of player development. We are excited to elevate her as an assistant coach," Levens said. "Her tireless work ethic, attention to detail and care for Nevada women's basketball will continue to lift our program.
"I want to thank Asami for her hard work and dedication to Nevada women's basketball for the past two seasons. I am thrilled that she now has the opportunity to lead a program and we wish her the very best in this next journey."
As a player, Bergman competed in 95 career games at Nevada after transferring from Pacific. During her senior year, she started in all but one contest and averaged 6.4 points per game while hitting a career-best 44 3-pointers and dished out a career-high 58 assists.
After a four-year playing career with Nevada women's basketball, Bergman served as a graduate assistant starting in 2018 and spent two and a half seasons in that role. She was elevated to director of player development in January 2021, where she assisted with film breakdown, operations and other tasks.
Bergman has earned three degrees at Nevada, receiving her bachelor's degree in business management along with two master's degrees in educational leadership and justice management.
"It is an incredible honor to continue to serve the program that molded me into who I am today, now as an assistant coach," Bergman said. "Home means Nevada and I am grateful for Coach Levens' trust in my ability to assume this role and I cannot wait to continue my journey here at Nevada."
Nevada women's basketball will continue its fun-filled summer before going on its Summer Exhibition Tour to Canada in August. Summer camps continue to run July 25-27 and August 26. Registration and more information can be found here.
