RENO, Nev. - Nevada women's basketball revealed the opponents for its 2023 Canadian Exhibition Tour in British Columbia, Canada Aug. 3-9.
The Pack will play Thompson Rivers University Aug. 4, the University of the Fraser Valley Aug. 6, and the University of British Columbia Okanagan Aug. 8. All games will be played at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Western University in Langley Township, British Columbia.
"We are excited about playing all three of these schools in Canada in August," head coach Amanda Levens said. "Each game is going to provide excellent preparation for our team ahead of the 2023-24 season. This will be great game experience for both our newcomers and our returning student-athletes."
The Pack will go up against another Pack-themed team in Thompson Rivers Aug. 4. Led by second-year head coach Todd Warnick, the TRU Wolfpack brought in eight newcomers to mesh with its young team entering the 2023-24 season. In its history, Thompson Rivers has had eight Canada West All-Star selections and four U Sports All-Canadian honorees.
Nevada continues its Foreign Tour with the University of the Fraser Valley Aug. 6. The UFV Cascades are coming off a 15-7 season in 2022-23 with a trip to the Canada West Quarterfinals. UFV has collected three straight seasons with 15 or more wins to go with five straight Canada West playoff appearances.
Nevada's game against the UBC Okanagan Heat will take place Aug. 8. The UBC Okanagan Heat are coming off a 10-win season, the most in program history and qualified for the Canada West playoffs for the second consecutive season. UBC Okanagan had three players average at least 11 points per game last season and had two players grab eight or more rebounds per game.
Along with playing three exhibition games, Nevada women's basketball will take advantage of seeing the Vancouver sights. The itinerary so far includes a trip to Whistler, various parks and other fun-filled activities.
With its scenic views, mild climate, and friendly people, Vancouver is known around the world as both a popular tourist attraction and one of the best places to live. Considered one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities in Canada, Vancouver has been home to a number of international events which included the Winter Olympics in 2010.
Nevada returns nine letterwinners from the previous season, including three of its top four leading scorers from 2022-23 (Lexie Givens, Audrey Roden, Victoria Davis). The Pack will also welcome seven newcomers, including a pair of graduate transfers from Division I schools to go with five freshmen.
NCAA rules permit one foreign trip every four years, with Nevada last taking one in 2017 to Spain. The Pack received 10 extra practices to prepare for the tour.
