LAS VEGAS – Nevada women's tennis wraps their regular season with a huge win over No. 45 San Diego State Saturday afternoon, splitting the weekend in Las Vegas.
The Pack (9-9, 4-6 MW) dropped the doubles point to the Aztecs, putting them in a 1-0 hole, before picking up momentum in singles to clinch the win. In singles, it came down to the final match at No. 6, where
Audrey Moutama beat out San Diego State's A Von Tersch Pohrer in a three-set showdown, Moutama and Pohrer each with one win heading into the final set. Moutama dominated Pohrer, rolling to a 6-0 set win and clinched the match for Nevada over the top-50 ranked team.
Helping Moutama win the final point for Nevada, the Pack earned their first three points at Nos. 2, 3, and 4, all seeing three-sets action. At No. 3, Lou-Anne Guerbet defeated Cecile Morin after dropping the first set 3-6, bouncing back in the second and third sets with 6-3, 6-1 victories. Next, Amahée Charrier at No. 2 took Alicia Melosch 6-4, 4-6, and 7-5 while
Mariana Campino down at No. 4 beat out Andreea Velcea, taking the first and third sets 6-4, 6-3.
Nevada will travel back to Las Vegas this upcoming week for the start of the postseason with the Mountain West Championships from April 26-29.
