Nevada wins the series against Utah State

RENO, Nev. - Nevada secured the second win of the series against the Utah State Aggies Saturday afternoon.

Carley Brown spent all five innings in the circle for the Pack. The Nevada Senior only allowed three hits and a walk, striking out three in the 9-1 victory. The only run they came across for the Aggies went unearned, giving Brown her eighth outing of the season without an earned run.

Aaliyah Jenkins started the game with a double to right-center that drove Chelie Senini across for a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.

The bottom of the second started with Maile Olsen single to right center to put the Pack on bases. Charli Hawkins, single to the right center, scored Olsen and Hannah Di Genova to put the Pack up 3-0, and Hawkins advanced to second on the throw. Gabby Herrera doubled to the right-field line and scored Hawkins for a 4-0 lead.

Di Genova hit the third double of the day for the Pack in the bottom of the third to score Madison Clark. Aaliyah Jenkins walked, and with a live ball, Bradianne Glover stole home to put the Pack up 6-0.

Haley Painter singled to right field in the fourth inning and scored Bella Kordonowy to extend the lead to 7-0.

The Aggies scored in the top of the fifth, but Nevada kept the lead. The Pack loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth, and a wild pitch by the Aggies scored the eighth run for Nevada.

Gabby Herrera forced an error by the shortstop to close the game for Nevada, 9-1, on the second walk-off of the series.
