ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Nevada track and field closed out the Mountain West Indoor Championships Saturday, which saw the team earn three school records, two conference champions, five medals, a fifth-place finish with a point total of 59, recording the most points ever scored at the indoor championships since joining the Mountain West, tying their highest place finish from 2022, and the 4x400 relay claiming the title for the first time in Mountain West and school history.
Â
"It was a great weekend, scoring in just about every event we possibly could. We walked away from the championships with three school records, two conference champions, two conference runner-ups, a bronze medal, numerous personal bests, and 10 Nevada all-time list entrants, an amazing wat to walk out of the 2023 indoor season," said head coach
Shantel Twiggs. "Our win in the 4x400 relay in the second heat, having to sit and wait to see where our time would land is one for the history books. It's not always easy to get your athletes to buy in, and trust the process, but we showed up and showed out this weekend."
