TEMPE, Ariz. – After a shutout 4-0 match win against New Mexico State Saturday, Nevada took in-state rival UNLV 4-1, to close out the ASU 8-Team tournament Sunday, picking up a point in the Silver State Series, and moving to 3-5 on the year.
Nevada jumped on the momentum early, with
Pedro Liborio and
Youssef Kadiri Hassani at No. 3, securing the win over UNLV's Jackson Atherton and Anton Ornberg. The Rebels took wins at Nos. 1 and 2 with 6-3 victories to ultimately snag the doubles point and take the 1-0 lead.
The Pack went to work in singles play,
Delmas N'Tcha beating Maxim Verboven (No. 1) 6-1, 6-3, while Liborio defeated UNLV's Milos Dabic in a dominating 6-3, 6-0 match. Nevada would go on to get wins at Nos. 6 and 3 to take the match. At No. 6,
Loris Zisswiller downed Eduardo Cohen, and
Matheo Coupu earned the victory over Anton Ornberg 6-2, 6-4.
The Pack (2-6) will travel next to San Luis Obispo, California on March 5, to take on Cal Poly.
