TEMPE, Ariz. -Â One day after going toe-to-toe with the 32nd-ranked team in the country, Nevada took that momentum in Saturday and shutout New Mexico State, 4-0, in Tempe, Ariz.
The Pack (2-5) will wrap up action at the ASU 8-Team Tournament Sunday at 1 p.m. PT, taking on UNLV in a consolation match. The bonus matchup in the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union will be a non-conference result, as the teams' Mountain West meeting is set for April 14 in Las Vegas.
Saturday, Nevada raced out to the 1-0 lead, as the tandems of
Loris Zisswiller and
Satchel Benn at No. 2 and
Pedro Liborio and
Youssef Kadiri Hassani at No. 3 booked matching 6-4 victories over their counterparts from New Mexico State (2-10).
Singles would go just as quickly, with
Matheo Coupu (No. 3), Kadiri Hassani (No. 4), and
Sasha Nicolau (No. 6) rolling to straight-sets wins. Coupu defeated Jordy Visser, 6-2, 7-6 (5), while Kadiri Hassani beat Itay Feigin, 6-0, 6-4, and Nicolau downed Patrick Lohmann, 6-0, 6-4.
