Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Wyoming tops Nevada in Laramie

LARAMIE, Wyo. - Nevada women's basketball fell to Wyoming 81-66 on Thursday night at Arena-Auditorium.

Sophomore Audrey Roden and junior Lexie Givens led Nevada with 19 points each while graduate student Megan Ormiston scored 11 points to go with six rebounds. Wyoming shot 58.9 percent from the floor and 63.6 percent from 3-point range on Thursday.

The Pack were the early aggressors, with quick baskets from Givens and Roden giving Nevada the early advantage. Roden continued to work, knocking down her first three shot attempts to give Nevada an early 12-8 lead.

Wyoming, however, used a 9-0 scoring run to swing the advantage, but a jumper by sophomore Kaylee Borden made it a one possession game. The Cowgirls converted a driving layup to move back ahead by five with 34 seconds left in the first period and Givens answered immediately by drilling a 3-pointer just before the buzzer.

Shooting 66.7 percent from the floor in the second quarter, Wyoming closed the first half with a 24-7 scoring run to move ahead by 19 going into the locker room.

The Cowgirls continued to stay hot on offense, shooting 68.8 percent in the third quarter to stretch their lead to as many as 25. Nevada finished the game on a 22-13 scoring run in the fourth quarter, but the Pack were unable to make up the deficit in the final minutes.

Nevada wraps up its road trip at Air Force on Saturday 12 p.m.
