HOUSTON, Texas -Â Nevada finished the Mountain West Championship in fourth place with 930 points Saturday afternoon. San Diego State was the champions of the 2023 Mountain West Championships after scoring 1,638 points. The Aztecs were followed by the UNLV Rebels (1,103 points) in second place, and Wyoming (937 points) in third place.Â
Lucia Gabino was selected Diver of the Meet after sweeping the springboard events, and finishing the platform event in 12th place, with a score of 210.25.
On the final day, Laura Isabel Vazquez Lopez picked up her first medal of the week in the platform event. The senior ended in second place with a score of 299.30. Melissa Mirafuentes followed Vazquez to the podium as she finished in third place with a score of 276.50.Â
Mariana Vignoli closed her career at Nevada with a 13th place in the 1650 free, with a time of 17:05.66.Â
Benedict Nagy finished in eighth place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.55. Kyla Alexander dropped a personal best in the same event after swimming a 1:57.30, which gave her the win in the B-final. Daniela Piccinini finished in 16th place with a 2:02.69.
Colette Berkenfield was the Pack representative in the 100 freestyle final. The senior finished in 16th place with a time of 51.36.
Wiktoria Samula was the top swimmer in the B-final of the 200 breaststroke after coming out with a time of 2:13.66. Anslee Dickerson hit the wall in 16th, with a time of 2:22.74.
Destiny Kling finished the 200 butterfly in 13th place, with a time of 2:03.30, while Caitlyn Smith was the 22nd place swimmer, with a 2:05.43.Â
Nevada ended wrapped the meet with a third place in the 400 free relay. Josien Wijkhuijs, Alexander, Jasko, and Berkenfield finished the race with a time of 3:21.04.Â
