HOUSTON, Texas - Nevada swim and dive finished the second day of the Mountain West Championships in third place Thursday afternoon. The Pack has 432 points and sits behind San Diego State (663 points), and UNLV (436 points).Â
Diver Lucia Gabino took home her second gold as she was the top diver in the 3-meter springboard, with 375.25 points. Gabino was followed by Heydra, who concluded the event in second place with a score of 360.85, and Melissa Mirafuentes (335.65), who finished fourth. Â
Laura Isabel Vazquez Lopez represented the Pack in the consolation final after finishing the event in 10th place with a score of 282.30.Â
Benedict Nagy was the top swimmer of the night as she earned a bronze medal in the 200 IM after dropping a personal best time of 1:59.58. Wiktoria Samula swam in the bonus finals and finished in 24th place with a time of 2:07.43.Â
Josien Wijkhuijs improved her time from the prelims to finish the 50 free in fifth place, with a time of 22.80. Martyna Jablonska (23.50) and Colette Berkenfield (23.77) finished in the 19th and 22nd after swimming in the C-final.Â
Mariana Vignoli was the Pack representative in the 500 free as she finished in 23rd place, with a time of 5:02.34.Â
The Pack concluded the night with another third place in the 400-medley relay. The team composed of Kyla Alexander, Wiktoria Samula, Josien Wijkhuijs, and Colette Berkenfield, finished with a time of 3:39.40.
