SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Nevada split the day with a win against UC Santa Barbara (8-5) and a loss against Cal Poly (3-2) Saturday afternoon.
UC Santa Barbara 5 - Nevada 8
Blake Craft got her first start of the season. Craft played five innings, recording four hits, five runs (five earned), and strikeout nine.
Tyra Clary took over the mount at the top of the sixth to register her first win of the season. Clary allowed no hits while shutting down the Gauchos' offense with three strikeouts to record the win.
Chelie Senini recorded a single-game career high with four stolen bases against the Gauchos. The senior stole home at the bottom of the third and put the Pack on the scoreboard with one run. Senini also recorded three runs and two hits.
Gabby Herrera continues to make an impact in the Pack offense with her first home run as a member of the Pack. Herrera's home run was a deep two-RBI shot right-center that gave the Pack a one-run lead in the bottom of the sixth.
Charli Hawkins led the offense with three hits in four at-bat appearances, including a double 2-RBI that secured the lead for the Pack in the bottom of the sixth.
Aaliyah Jenkins started the rally for the Pack in the bottom of the fifth as she registered her first triple RBI of the season that scored Senini.
Alycia Coats and Hailey Prahm also tallied one hit each. Coats registered a single RBI in the bottom of the fifth, while Prahm had a single up the middle in the sixth inning.
Nevada 2 - Cal Poly 3
Carley Brown registered the loss as the starting pitcher for the Pack. Brown pitched for four innings, giving up six hits, and three runs while striking out three Mustangs players.
Blake Craft came into the circle to relieve Brown at the bottom of the fifth inning. Craft gave up one hit and one strikeout.
Gabby Herrera recorded her second home run of the day that tied the game 1-1 at the top of the third.
Maile Olsen forced a bases-loaded RBI walk that scored Engelbrecht to give the Pack a 2-1 lead. Olsen also registered a hit in the game.
The Mustangs rallied back as they scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead.
Aaliyah Jenkins, Madison Clark, Haley Painter, and Andrea Lira also tallied one hit in the game.
Nevada loaded the bases in the top of the seventh but was unable to bring a runner home. The Pack got its first loss of the season with a 3-2 score.
