Nevada women's basketball faces UCSB in Saturday home showcase

RENO, Nev. - Nevada women's basketball is back home at Lawlor Events Center Saturday at 1 p.m. to face UC Santa Barbara in Youth/Family Day.

Saturday's game will be available to watch on Nevada Sports Net/Mountain West Network and available to listen on KPLY 630 AM. Emmy award-winning broadcaster Larry Burnett will be on the radio play-by-play once again for Nevada women's basketball, where fans can also listen online through the Varsity Network.

Saturday's Youth/Family Day will include family-friendly activities, which features a free postgame basketball clinic with Nevada coaches and players for 8th graders and under. Free postgame autographs with the team will be available for all fans. Tickets start at just $5 for youth online and $7 for adults online.

STRONG START
Nevada has won five out of its first seven games and wrapped up November with a 5-2 record following a 76-63 win over San Diego Nov. 29. The Pack are currently on a three-game winning streak, already possessing a longer streak than last season. This is the second time in the last two years Nevada has begun the season with five wins in its first seven games. A win on Saturday would mark the fourth time in the last five years Nevada has gone a four-game win streak or longer.

HUNTING SEASON
Nevada women's basketball is going from the hunted to the hunters in 2023-24, with this year's theme being "The Hunt". Nevada is looking to bounce back after finishing just 10-21 last season with an eighth place finish in the Mountain West. "The Hunt" theme is a daily reminder for the team in 2023-24, with the words being printed on this season's practice jerseys.

AWESOME AUDREY

Audrey Roden, a member of the 2021-22 Mountain West All-Freshman Team, returns to Nevada for her junior season. She started the season by registering her fifth career 20-point game by dropping 21 in the season opener Nov. 9 and has averaged 19 points per game to start the season. As a sophomore, Roden finished in the top 20 in the Mountain West in scoring average in conference games. The West Linn, Oregon, native scored in double figures 15 times in 2022-23, including three 20-point outings. She also became the third Nevada sophomore to reach 500 career points under head coach Amanda Levens. Roden is currently in the top 10 nationally in steals and second in the Mountain West with 24 and came up with her second career double-double Nov. 29 against San Diego (22 points, 11 rebounds).

SWEET STEALS

Nevada women's basketball has made getting steals and forcing turnovers a part of their early identity. The Pack are currently seventh in the nation in steals, averaging 14 steals per game. The 23 steals Nov. 9 are the fourth-most by a Wolf Pack squad in a single game in the NCAA Era.

DYNAMITE DYMO
Nevada freshman guard Dymonique Maxie shined in her collegiate debut. Maxie recorded nine steals Nov. 9 against Sacramento State, the
second-most by a Nevada player in a single game in the NCAA Era. She was the first Nevada freshman to start a season opener since the 2019-20 season.  Maxie recently had a career-high eight rebounds in Nevada's overtime win over Central Arkansas Nov. 25. She is currently in the top 20 nationally in steals with 21.
