RENO, Nev. -Â Nevada Football alumni Carson Strong and Romeo Doubs were honored on the Mountain West's 25th Season Football Team, the conference announced Thursday.
The duo, which spent the 2018-21 seasons with the Wolf Pack, were part of the 25 players on the Offense Team. The conference's football team honored 25 players on offense, 25 on defense, and 10 specialists.
Strong is one of just five players in conference history to twice be named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year (2020-21). His 2021 season was one for both the record books, as he set Nevada's single-season records for passing touchdowns (36) while his 4,175 passing yards were second all-time. He set the program's single-game mark for completions with 49 at Fresno State, and finished his career in Nevada's top five in multiple categories: completions (852, second), passing touchdowns (74, third), total offense (9,063 yards, fourth), passing yards (9,368, fourth), and passing attempts (1,252, fourth).
He had nine 300-yard passing games in 2021, pacing the Mountain West. His five-career 400-yard passing games rank third all-time in conference history, he is fourth with 17 300-yard games, and his 4,175 passing yards was the third-highest single-season total among Mountain West passers.
Doubs was a five-time All-Mountain West selection, including two spots as wide receiver on the First Team (2020-21). He was named honorable mention as both a receiver and punt returner in 2019, and earned a spot on the Second Team as punt returner in 2020.
The current Green Bay Packers wideout shared the lead or led the Mountain West in touchdown catches in consecutive seasons, pulling in nine in 2020 (sharing the lead with teammate Cole Turner) before upping that mark to 11 in 2021. He posted back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons, leading the Mountain West with 1,002 over just nine games in 2020, then racking up 1,109 yards the following season, also ranking top-three in the conference in receiving yards per game (100.8, second), receptions (80, third), and receiving yards (fourth).
Doubs went on to wrap his Nevada career fourth all-time in receiving yards (3,322), tied for fifth in touchdown catches (26), and seventh in receptions (225). He matched Nate Burleson's program single-game record with 19 receptions against Fresno State in 2021, and recorded 13 100-yard receiving games.
Also a prolific specialist, Doubs' first collegiate touch was an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown against Portland State in 2018. Over his career, he averaged 12.5 yards over 37 punt returns.
Together, Strong and Doubs were one of just three Mountain West combos of a 3,000-yard passer and 1,000-yard receiver in 2021.
