Nevada women’s basketball welcomes Oregon to Reno Tuesday

RENO, Nev. - Nevada women's basketball faces Pac-12 foe Oregon Tuesday at Lawlor Events Center at 6:30 p.m. for Native American Heritage Night.

Tuesday's game will be available to watch on Nevada Sports Net/Mountain West Network and available to listen on KPLY 630 AM. Emmy award-winning broadcaster Larry Burnett will be on the radio play-by-play once again for Nevada women's basketball, where fans can also listen online through the Varsity Network.

The annual Native American Heritage game will feature special entertainment, including a Native American halftime performance.

WELCOMING THE CHALLENGE
Nevada is playing one of the toughest non-conference schedules under head coach Amanda Levens, playing three schools from Power 5 conferences. Nevada's non-conference schedule includes one 2023 NCAA Tournament team and four teams who made the WNIT last season. The Pack will also play its first game at Lawlor Events Center against a Pac 12 school since 2018 (Nov. 21 vs. Oregon).

SWEET STEALS
Nevada women's basketball has made getting steals and forcing turnovers a part of their early identity. The Pack are currently fifth in the nation in steals, averaging over 17 steals per game. Nevada is also sixth in the nation in turnovers forced per game with 27 per game and seventh in turnover margin with an average of 13.3. The 23 steals Nov. 9 are the fourth-most by a Wolf Pack squad in a single game in the NCAA Era.

NAT IS BACK
Redshirt sophomore forward Natalie Lathrop overcame great adversity by coming back from a season-ending knee injury sustained in 2022-23. Lathrop scored her first basket since March 7, 2022 on Nov. 17 against Pepperdine and finished a strong layup in the second quarter following a Gabby Giuffre 3-pointer to widen Nevada's lead to double-digits. She finished with a career-high seven points while grabbing a career-high four rebounds.

IN LEVENS WE TRUST
Nevada women's basketball head coach Amanda Levens enters the second year of her contract extension that was signed last season. Levens, who has been at the helm of Nevada women's basketball since 2017, is currently third in program history in wins, has guided the Pack to a pair of postseason appearances and has coached players to 10 All-Conference honors. She is nine wins away from becoming the third coach in program history to record 100 wins at Nevada.

THE GREAT GIVENS
Nevada's Lexie Givens has been one of Nevada's most consistent players in the last four years. Givens, who averaged 10.5 points per game last season, was Nevada's leading rebounder in 2022-23 with a 6.4 rebounds per game mark. She began the year by accumulating eight steals in the season opener, the fourth-most by a Nevada player in a single game in the NCAA Era.

SCOUTING OREGON
Oregon, a 2019 Final Four team, has made five out of the last six NCAA Tournaments. The Duck are off to a 3-1 start and looking to bounce back from an 89-50 home defeat to Santa Clara.

Oregon has four players averaging double figures in scoring, led by Grace Vanslooten with 16.5 points per game. Phillipina Kyei has averaged a double-double to start the season with 10.3 points per game and 10.8 rebounds per game. Chance Gray (14.8 ppg) and Sofia Bell (11.0 ppg) also add depth.
