"We're excited for a fun non-conference tilt that is road heavy, but also allows us to bring some great programs to Reno throughout the year. I think those opportunities should ultimately get us ready for what should be a very tough Mountain West schedule," said Nevada head coach
Jake McKinley.
The Wolf Pack opens the 2024 campaign, and McKinley's second at the helm, with 15-straight on the road, beginning with a three-game series at UC Riverside (Feb. 16-18). This run includes trips to UC Davis (Feb. 20), San Francisco (Feb. 23-25), UCLA (Feb. 27), CSUN (March 1-3), the Mountain West-opening series at San Diego State (March 8-10), and a non-conference matchup at UC San Diego (March 11).
The Pack's home slate gets underway with a three-game set March 15-17 against New Mexico. That series begins a run of three-straight weekends in Reno, continued with UNLV (March 22-24) and Air Force (March 28-30). Midweek road games at Sacramento State (March 19) and Pacific (March 26) break up the homestand, with a return game against Sacramento State set for April 2 at Peccole Park.
Nevada's home weekend series start times will be 6:05 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 2:05 p.m. Saturdays, and 12:05 p.m. Sundays.
Nevada makes the trip to Fresno for its lone series against the Bulldogs April 5-7, then returns home for a six-game stand. That stretch begins with a non-conference meeting with Arizona (April 9), followed by a weekend set with San José State (April 12-14) and closing with two against Oregon State (April 16-17).
The return series at UNLV (April 19-21) begins a seven-game road swing in which Nevada also visits Utah Tech (April 22) in non-conference play then faces Air Force (April 26-28).
Nevada closes the regular season with eight of its final 12 games at home, beginning April 30 against San Francisco and continuing with a three-game, non-conference series with Houston Christian (May 3-5).
Following a four-game road swing at Sacramento State then the final road Mountain West series at New Mexico (May 10-12), the Pack closes the regular season with four in Reno. The Pack hosts Pacific (May 14) in non-conference action before wrapping the conference slate against San Diego State (May 16-18).
McKinley and the Nevada staff begin their second season at the helm in 2024. Starter
Jason Doktorczyk (3-5, 71 K) and closer
Kolby Kmetko (eight saves, 30 K in 24.2 IP) highlight the returning pitching staff, while at the plate, All-Mountain West second-team selection
Jesse Pierce (.318, 11 HR, 12 2B, 36 RBIs), OF/DH
Nolan Wilson (.288, 17 2B, four HR, 29 RBIs), and INF
JR Freethy (.255, seven 2B, five HR, 23 RBIs) return.
