RENO, Nev. - After a sensational first week of the season in which he averaged 22.5 points per game on 52.9 percent shooting from the field, as well as 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.5 steals across Nevada's victories over Sacramento State and Washington, Kenan Blackshear has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week for the first time in his career.  

Blackshear was remarkable in the Pack's first two games of the season. In Nevada's season-opening 14-point victory over Sacramento State, Blackshear scored 14 points on 6-12 shooting from the field, in addition to pulling down seven rebounds, dishing out three assists, recording two steals, and tallying one block. He finished the contest with a game-high plus/minus of +13 in 28 minutes of action.  

Blackshear followed up his stellar season-opening performance with one of the best outings of his career, as the fifth-year senior dropped a career-high 31 points to lead Nevada to an impressive 83-76 road win over Washington on Sunday evening. 

Blackshear was immaculate in the contest from start to finish, pouring in the career-high 31 points on 12-22 shooting from the field, marking a new career-high for field goals made in a single game. Blackshear also grabbed six rebounds and dished out a team-high five assists in the game. For the second consecutive contest, Blackshear recorded a game-high plus/minus of +10 in 37 minutes of playing time.  

Blackshear and the rest of the Nevada squad will aim to remain unbeaten, as they host Pacific this Wednesday at Lawlor Events Center, with tip-off slated for 7 p.m.
