SERIES HISTORY
San Diego State leads the all-time series against Nevada, 9-6. The Wolf Pack is 2-6 on the road against the Aztecs, but Saturday's contest will be the Wolf Pack's first at SDSU's new Snapdragon Stadium.
ABOUT SAN DIEGO STATE
San Diego State (3-4, 1-2 MW) snapped a four-game losing streak Saturday night, picking up a 41-34 road win at Hawai'i. The Aztecs are led by dual-threat quarterback Jaylen Mayden, who has passed for 1,285 yards and six touchdowns, and also leads San Diego State in rushing yards (348) with three scores on the ground. Jaylon Armstead (257 rushing yards, five touchdowns) is also a ground threat for the Aztecs.
ONLY TRIP OF OCTOBER
This week's trip to San Diego is Nevada's sole roadie of the month. The Wolf Pack went on the road thrice over the first five weeks of the campaign, and this weekend's trip is the only one between Sept. 30 (Nevada's game at Fresno State) and Nov. 11 (Nevada's next road game, at Utah State).
Nevada will be back at home for consecutive weeks (Oct. 28 vs. New Mexico, Nov. 4 vs. Hawai'i) following this trip to San Diego.
LEWIS' CAREER DAY
Nevada quarterback
Brendon Lewis had a career day despite Saturday's defeat--the Wolf Pack signal-caller set career highs for passing yards (287) and rushing yards (115).
Lewis threw his first two touchdown passes in a Nevada uniform, first connecting with
Dalevon Campbell for 43 yards in the first quarter, then finding
Isaah Crocker for a 55-yard score in the fourth.
Lewis' 115 rushing yards marked Nevada's first 100-yard rushing performance by a quarterback since Cristian Solano went for exactly 100 yards in the Wolf Pack's 37-21 victory at UTEP back on Sept. 21, 2019.
SEASON-BEST DAY FOR THE WOLF PACK OFFENSE
Nevada's offense rebounded Saturday from a difficult performance in its last outing (Sept. 30 at Fresno State). After gaining just 220 total yards against the Bulldogs, the Wolf Pack offense more than doubled that output Saturday against UNLV, going for a season-high 474 total yards, including a season-best 187 rushing yards.
The performance also included 10 "explosive" plays (rushes of at least 15 yards, passes of at least 20 yards), five on the ground and five through the air. That total is Nevada's highest since the start of the 2022 season--the previous high was nine explosive plays (two rush, seven passing) against Incarnate Word Sept. 10, 2022.
