RENO, Nev. – Nevada Athletics will host an Open House on Wednesday, June 15 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, the landmark federal legislation that prohibits gender discrimination in education.
The open house will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Legacy Hall. A light lunch will be provided and fans are invited to visit Legacy Hall to learn about the history of Nevada Women's Athletics and interact with Wolf Pack coaches, student-athletes and staff.

The open house will begin a series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX in addition to honoring and recognizing the overall history of women's athletics at the University of Nevada.
Nevada Athletics will also launch a crowdfunding campaign to honor the contributions of the history of women's athletics and support for the next 50 years of women's athletics. Nevada will host a day of giving campaign on June 23 to impact the lives of current and future women student-athletes at Nevada.
In addition, there will be special merchandising opportunities leading up to June 23, as well as giveaways and a video tribute at sporting events, a comprehensive look at the history of women's athletics integrated into NevadaWolfPack.com, a social series throughout the fall and a permanent recognition dedicated to those women who paved the way prior to the passage of Title IX.
The University of Nevada sponsors 10 women's varsity sports featuring more than 200 female student-athletes. The Wolf Pack women's teams have won 22 all-time conference championships, including 10 Western Athletic Conference titles in Nevada's 12 years as a member of that league (2000-12). The Wolf Pack women's swimming and diving team won the school's first women's conference championship as a member of the Mountain West Conference, taking home the 2016 title.
Women's athletics have a long tradition of success at Nevada, including a national championship by the 1979 Wolf Pack women's swimming and diving team, while Nevada's female student-athletes have earned
176 All-America certificates and
12 individual national championships. Most recently, diver
Sharae Zheng captured national championships in both 1-meter and 3-meter diving at the 2016 NCAA Championships.
