Satchel Benn's 5-7, 7-6, 6-1 comeback win at No. 4 to clinch a 4-3 win for the Pack.
Nevada (13-6, 1-0 MW) opened the Mountain West campaign with a key win, and will go for a 2-0 weekend Sunday at 10 a.m. PT at Utah State.
Friday, the Pack took the early advantage with a pair of 6-4 doubles wins by the tandems of
Loris Zisswiller and
Satchel Benn and
Juan Batalla and
Daniel Dudockin.
In singles action,
Delmas N'Tcha (No. 3) picked up a hard-fought 7-5, 7-5 win over Jan Lucca Marquardt and
Ambroise Marchand was victorious at No. 6, 6-4, 6-3 over James Van Herzeele.
Boise State picked up three singles win to knot things up at 3-3, and it all came down to the No. 4 spot between Benn and Moortgat. After dropping the opening set, 5-7, Benn outlasted Moortgat in a second-set tiebreaker, before rolling in the third and deciding set, 6-1.
