STOCKTON, Calif. – Nevada softball dropped last game of the Libby Matson Tournament against Idaho State on Sunday morning. The Pack concluded the weekend in a 2-3 record.
Nevada 7 – Idaho State 9
Sophomore
Tyra Clary took the lost for the Pack. Clary gave up six hits, eight runs (four earned), and struck out one. Sophomore
Jana Pope stepped in to relief Clary in the second inning. Pope gave up one run and struck out one.
Blake Craft stepped in to finish the game. Craft gave no hits or runs, while striking out five.
Nevada was led by senior
Danielle Lew, who recorded two hits and two RBIs. Senior
Lauren Gutierrez tallied one hit and three RBI. Sophomore
Gennah Sanchez launched her first home run of the year. While
Chelie Senini,
Jessica Sellers, and
Mia Misasi also tallied one hit each.Â
How it Happened
- Nevada took the lead after scoring one run in the first inning.
- Idaho State responded by scoring three runs.
- The Pack launched a home run in the second inning.
- The Bengals extended the lead by putting six in the scoreboard.
- Nevada scored one in the top of the third to hold the Bengals offense for the remaining of the innings.
- The Pack was able to score four runs in the sixth inning, but fell short to the Bengals 7-9.
UP NEXT
Nevada softball will stay on the road for a last tournament before starting conference play. The Pack will head to San Luis Obispo, Calif. to play at the Cal Poly Tournament. The squad will face Pacific and Cal Poly twice during the March 12-13 weekend.
