SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Nevada splits opening day at the Mustang Classic Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Pack won the first game of the day against Pacific, 4-3, but dropped the game against the host team, Cal Poly 2-1. The squad is now 5-17 in the season.

Freshman
Ellie Garcia threw a complete game recording the win for the Pack. Garcia gave up five hits, three runs (two earned), and struck out three.

The Pack offense was led by senior
Jessica Sellers, recording one hit and two RBI. Sophomore
Chelie Senini tallied one hit. Senini also recorded two runs and one stolen base. Senior
Lauren Gutierrez recorded one hit and one run.
Charli McLendon and
Bella Kordonowy tallied one hit each.

How it happened
- Pacific had an early start after scoring one in the first inning.
- Nevada responded by scoring one run.
- The Pack took the lead in the bottom of the third adding one run to the scoreboard.
- The Tigers tied the game in the top of the fourth, before taking the lead in the fifth inning.
- Nevada was able to add two runs in the bottom of the seventh, after a throw that forced the catcher to come off the home plate and allowed the runs to score, finishing the game 4-3 for the Pack.

Sophomore
Blake Craft threw 6.1 innings to record the loss for Nevada. Craft gave up six hits, two runs (one earned), and struck out six. Garcia stepped into the circle in hope of leading the game into an extra inning. The sophomore gave up one hit and allowed the Mustangs to win the game.

Senini led the Pack offense with one hit and one RBI. The sophomore also stole her second base of the day to be 22-22 in the season.

- Nevada was able to hold the Mustang's offense until the bottom of the seventh when a hit scored one run, closing the game 2-1 for Cal Poly.
