The Pack heads to Las Vegas next week for the Mountain West Championship, scheduled for March 9-12 at Thomas & Mack Center. Nevada, the No. 8 seed in the draw, will face No. 9 New Mexico Wednesday, March 9, at 11 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Nevada finished its final regular-season road trip winless, dropping the second contest, 73-67, at Boise State.
The Wolf Pack battled back from 12 down early in the second half, cutting the deficit to one at 66-65 with four minutes to play. But Boise State scored five-straight points to go up six, and Nevada missed its final five attempts from the field, allowing the Broncos to pull away.
Kenan Blackshear scored a team-high 16 points in the contest, going 6-for-10 from the field, while Grant Sherfield finished with 10 points and six assists.
SCOUTING SAN DIEGO STATE
San Diego State (20-7, 12-4 MW) ends a three-games-in-six-days stretch with Saturday's contest in Reno, coming off a 65-64 double-overtime win at home against Fresno State, Thursday night.
The Aztecs are led by the play of Matt Bradley (17.5 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 52 3-pointers) and Trey Pulliam (8.3 ppg, 88 assists).
ONE MORE TO PREPARE FOR THE TOURNAMENT
Saturday's contest against San Diego State will serve as a final prep for the Wolf Pack's trip to Las Vegas for the Mountain West Championship, set for March 9-12.
San Diego State's 65-64 victory over Fresno State Thursday set Nevada into the No. 8 seed for the event, meaning that the Pack will open tournament play Wednesday, March 9, at 11 a.m. against No. 9 New Mexico.
STOP THE SLIDE
Nevada enters Saturday's contest seeking to end two separate slides. The first is the current slide of three-straight losses, with the second being a seven-game losing streak against San Diego State.
The past five meetings between the Pack and Aztecs have been decided by single digits, including the first this season, a 65-63 San Diego State win Feb. 6 at Viejas Arena.
SENIOR NIGHT FOR CAMBRIDGE JR.
Saturday's contest will also serve as Senior Night for redshirt senior Desmond Cambridge Jr.
Coming near the close of his second season of action with the Pack, Cambridge Jr., who sat out the 2019-20 season due to NCAA rules after transferring from Brown, has scored 868 points.
