ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Nevada evened its Mountain West record at 1-1 Sunday, defeating host New Mexico, 4-2.
The Pack pulled out the doubles point to take the early lead, getting the point on
Cristina Moll Alles and
Gabriella Charalampidi's 6-4 win over Yue Lin Chen and Satoho Toriumi. The tandem of
Mariana Campino and
Selina Turulja picked up a 6-1 win over Sofia Toborga and Maria Sodre at No. 2 for the other Pack win.
Campino would clinch the match for the Pack (7-4, 1-1 MW) at No. 3 singles, outlasting Sarah O'Connor, 6-1, 1-6, 6-2. Campino's win followed straight-sets victories over New Mexico (9-5, 0-2 MW) from
Anastasia Luneva (7-6, 6-2 over Hsuan Huang at No. 2) and Charalampidi (6-4, 6-3 over Toborga at No. 6).
The Pack will host a pair of Mountain West matches at McArthur Tennis Center next weekend, taking on Boise State Friday at noon, then closing the weekend Sunday at noon against Utah State.
