UP NEXT
The Pack returns home for its regular-season finale, and Senior Night, March 5, against San Diego State. From there, Nevada heads to Las Vegas for the Mountain West Tournament from March 9-12.
LAST TIME OUT
Nevada opened its final trip of the regular season Saturday night, falling 74-61 at Wyoming.
The Pack fell into an early 10-2 hole, and found itself behind, 42-26, at the break. Behind
Grant Sherfield and
Desmond Cambridge Jr., who led the Pack with 12 points apiece, Nevada fought back to within 10 with less than six minutes to go. But Wyoming scored five-straight points with under two minutes to play, slamming the door on Nevada comeback hopes.
SCOUTING BOISE STATE
Boise State (23-6, 14-2 MW) hosts its Senior Night Tuesday, as the Wolf Pack comes to town. The Broncos are coming off of an 86-76 victory at UNLV Saturday night.
The Broncos are led by the play of Abu Kigab (14.4 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 49.3 FG pct.) and Marcus Shaver Jr. (13.9 ppg, 54 3-pointers, 3.9 rpg).
LET'S SPOIL THE PARTY
Boise State is not only celebrating its Senior Night Tuesday, but has a chance to, with a win, clinch at least a share of the Mountain West regular-season title. So, Nevada has a chance to spoil a Bronco celebration, which is definitely not a thing that has any sort of history to it.
SERIES WITH BOISE STATE
Nevada leads the all-time series against the Broncos, 50-29, and has won 11 of the past 13 matchups, including a sweep of all three meetings in 2020-21. Boise State stopped that run with an 85-70 win in Reno back on Jan. 12.
The Nevada coaching staff also boasts impressive head-to-head records against Boise State. Head coach
Steve Alford is 8-2 all-time (4-0 with New Mexico, 4-2 with Nevada) against the Broncos, and head-to-head against Bronco head coach Leon Rice, while Nevada associate head coach
Craig Neal went 6-3 against Rice's Bronco teams while New Mexico's head coach from 2013-17.
IMPRESSIVE RETURN FOR WASHINGTON
Warren Washington has turned in a pair of strong performances since his return from missing eight games due to a hand injury suffered Jan. 25.
In his return Tuesday against UNLV, Washington scored the first four Pack points of the game, and went on to post his third double-double of the season, finishing with 12 points and a season high-matching 11 rebounds. He also went 6-for-9 from the field and made two blocks.
Saturday at Wyoming, Washington was 5-for-6 from the field, finishing with 11 points and six rebounds.
Over his two games back, Washington has averaged 11.5 points and 8.5 rebounds, while shooting 73.3 percent (11-for-15) from the field.
BLACKSHEAR BACK IN DOUBLE DIGITS
Junior guard
Kenan Blackshear bounced back well Saturday night in Wyoming after being held scoreless in Tuesday's loss to UNLV. In Laramie, Blackshear went 4-for-6 from the field, scoring 11 points with four rebounds and three assists.
It was Blackshear's eighth game scoring in double figures, and first in four contests. In Mountain West play, he's been a key contributor for the Pack, averaging 9.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.63 assists per game, while shooting 43.8 percent from the field.
