RENO, Nev. -Â Nevada (15-8, 7-4 MW) aims to bounce back and a split for the week, hosting New Mexico Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
Larry Burnett will have the call of the action on CBS Sports Radio 94.1 FM and 1450 AM with a 20-minute pregame show prior to tip. Fans can also listen live online via The Varsity Network app.
Saturday's contest will also be Nevada's Pride Game. As part of the celebration, Northern Nevada Pride / Our Center will have tables on the Lawlor concourse, and Nevada Pride t-shirts will be on sale in the Kid Zone.
The national anthem will be performed by the Nevada Gay Men's Chorus, and, in-game, there will be a social-media contest held for a chance to win two (2) VIP passes to Pride in July.
UP NEXT
Nevada hits the road for a quick turnaround, traveling to the San Joaquin Valley to take on Fresno State Monday, in a rescheduled date from Jan. 13's postponed contest. That contest is set for a 6 p.m. tip.
LAST TIME OUT
Nevada dropped a Wednesday matinee at San Diego State, 68-57, in its last contest.
Lexie Givens, who scored a career-high 27 points, gave Nevada (15-8, 7-4 MW) a 44-42 lead with a 3-pointer with 4:06 left in the third quarter. But that would be the Pack's last lead of the contest, as San Diego State (11-12, 5-7 MW) responded with the final nine points of the frame, and the opening pair in the fourth to take a nine-point lead.
Nevada fought back to within four, at 55-51, with just over five minutes to play, but Mercedes Staples, who led San Diego State with 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting, responded with back-to-back triples to put the Pack into a 10-point hole with 3:54 to play. San Diego State would make six of its final seven attempts of the contest, to hold off any Nevada comeback bids.
CAREER DAY FOR GIVENS
Sophomore forward
Lexie Givens continued what staff hopes is her breakout season in Wednesday's game at San Diego State, scoring a career-high 27 points on 9-of-11 shooting.
Givens' performance nearly doubled her previous best of 15, set Feb. 2 against San José State, and brought her season scoring average to 7.6 points per game. It also continued a solid run for her, as over the past three games, Givens is averaging 18.3 points and shooting a blazing 77.8 percent (21-for-27) from the field.
THEY'RE MORE NIGHT PEOPLE?
Thursday's defeat at San Diego State dropped Nevada to 8-7 in games tipping off before 5 p.m. this season. Conversely, the Wolf Pack has a record of 7-1 in contests tipping off after 5 p.m.
PLAYING A LONG GAME
As Nevada enters a stretch of its final six regular-season games, it remains not only in the hunt for the Mountain West regular-season title, but also for a top-five finish and resulting first-round bye at March 6-9's Mountain West Tournament.
A top-five finish would secure that bye, and would mark the third time in program history that the Wolf Pack has received a first-round bye at the Mountain West Tournament. The Pack, currently in third place in the standings, is also chasing its highest Mountain West regular-season finish and tournament seed, the current best being a third-place finish in 2013-14.
