Women’s tennis announces another signee to the Pack

RENO, Nev. – Nevada women's head coach Guillaume Tonelli announces another addition to the Pack, Canadian native Nicolette Fuhr, for the 2023-24 season.

"We are very excited about adding Nicolette to the team," said Tonelli. "She is very driven and will bring a positive attitude to the team this spring. We cannot wait to get the season started with her in Reno."

Born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Fuhr will join Nevada in true freshman standing, planning to major in international business. Representing the Guildwood Tennis Club out of Toronto and training alongside star tennis player Sandra Chindalo back at home, Fuhr is known as one of the premier Canadian NCAA tennis prospects, currently ranked 318th in the Canada National Ranking.

Fuhr has seen many high-level matches over her career, making her way to the doubles final twice in a row at the Grass Court Championships in Ontario, most recently in 2019, with doubles partner Winnie Wing Yee Choi. Fuhr and Choi fell to their opponents in the tough-fought final, 8-5, posting a 3-1 record in doubles play matches.

Fuhr graduated this past June from Sir Wilfrid Laurier Collegiate in Toronto,  competing on the high school tennis team, and voted MVP for the past two years. With her notable experience in doubles play, Fuhr will make an immediate impact for Nevada when she makes her debut with the squad this spring, at their first match of the regular season mid-January at Point Loma.
