RENO, Nev. - Nevada women's soccer fell 3-1 to Wyoming on Thursday night at Mackay Stadium.
The Pack scored with 14 minutes remaining, but the Cowgirls responded with three unanswered goals in the final 10 minutes. Fifth year goalkeeper Kendal Stovall tied a season-high 10 saves, the second time in the last three matches she has recorded double-digit saves.
Wyoming attacked early with a pair of shots in the first three minutes, but the Pack recorded the saves to keep the Cowgirls at bay. Stovall continued to anchor the defense, bringing her first half save total to four. The Cowgirls looked to move ahead off a free kick in the 41st minute, but Stovall prevented the ball from going in the back of the net to keep the score tied after the first 45 minutes.
Play remained equal for the first 30 minutes of the second half, but Nevada managed to get on the board. The Pack capitalized off a corner kick, with senior midfielder
Luz Arreaga putting the header in the back of the net off the assist from freshman defender
Abigail Souza to put Nevada ahead 1-0.
Wyoming, however, answered the bell four minutes later. After Wyoming's Alyssa Glover scored the equalizer, Taylor Brook's goal off the assist from Jamie Tatum allowed the Cowgirls to take the lead. Wyoming scored again one minute later, with Maddie Chance scoring off the assist from Glover that sealed the win for the Cowgirls.
Nevada returns to Mackay Stadium to face Colorado State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
