Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

San Diego State defeats Nevada women’s soccer

SAN DIEGO - Nevada women's soccer lost at San Diego State 3-0 on Thursday night at the SDSU Sports Complex.

Fifth year goalkeeper Kendal Stovall obtained her 400th career save in the 29th minute. She needs just two more saves to obtain the program's career record.

Keeping the Mountain West's top scoring offense quiet in the opening 10 minutes, Nevada looked to capitalize off a pair of corner kicks. Following a successful defense of the corner kicks, San Diego State moved ahead six minutes later. San Diego State's Carlin Blake placed the ball in the back of the net off assists from Emma Gaines-Ramos and Denise Castro that put the Aztecs ahead.

With the Aztecs pushing their attack, Stovall's 400th save 13 minutes later kept the deficit at one goal. After Stovall punched the ball in the air for her second save of the night in the 33rd minute, Nevada prevented another San Diego State shot on goal for the last 12 minutes of the first half.

San Diego State scored its second goal of the night in the 57th minute, with Gaines-Ramos finding the back of the net to put the Aztecs ahead by two scores. The Aztecs scored again in the 83rd minute that allowed San Diego State to take a three-goal lead.

Nevada faces New Mexico in Albuquerque on Sunday at 12 p.m.
