Reno, Nev. - Nevada volleyball team picks up first win of the season to wrap up the UC Davis tournament. The sweep came over San Francisco in 25-22, 25-21, 25-23. 

Junior Sydney Petersen recorded double-digit kills, while junior Andrea Alcaraz had 30 assists, two service aces, and a solo block. Going along with her 10 kills, Petersen scored five blocks assists and one set assist. Senior Kyla Waiters and sophomore Reka Monteleone continues to be key players to the Pack recording nine kills and two block assists, seven kills and nine digs, respectively. Freshman Sia Liilii scored seven kills and the service ace that led the Pack to the win. 

On a point-by-point set, Nevada was always behind in the score, until Alcaraz scores a service ace to tie the game 21-21. The Pack took the lead, after a kill by freshman Liiliii, forcing the Dons to call to a timeout. A service error closed the set for the Pack in 25-22. Monteleone led the Pack in the set with six kills. 

Continuing the momentum, the Pack scored an early five-point run and the Dons were not able to make a comeback. Setters Alcaraz and Chelsea Vaughan were in charge of the two service aces, and an attack error by San Francisco closed the set for the Pack. Waiters and Petersen were the leaders of the Pack offense with three points, while Monteleone and Kaila Spevak led the Pack's defense with four digs in the set.

In the third set, however, the Pack was trailing until was able to tie the game after a kill by Petersen. A solo block by Alcaraz puts the Pack in the lead and a service ace by Vaughan, gives the Pack a two-point lead, forcing San Francisco to call a timeout. Nevada is able to hold San Francisco close, and a bad set by the setter forces the Dons to call a timeout at 24-23 with the Pack in the lead. Liilii comes back from the timeout into the service and gives the Pack the service ace that closes the match. 

Next week, Nevada will be back on the road to Berkeley, Calif. Where the Pack will match up with California, Butler, and North Dakota State beginning on Sept. 10.
