Offensive explosion clinches second-consecutive series victory

BOISE, Idaho - Nevada (24-16, 16-8 MW) clinched its second-consecutive and seventh-overall Mountain West conference series victory after defeating Boise State, 9-6, in the series finale on Saturday. Four Wolf Pack players notched multi-hit performances.

Three Nevada pitchers made appearances on the mound. Julia Jensen (3-3) got the start for Nevada, tossing three innings, striking out two hitters and allowing four runs on six hits. Freshman Blake Craft (10-7) picked up the win after entering the circle in the fourth. Craft gave up zero runs on zero hits in two innings. Sophomore Kendall Fritz (11-6) secured her fifth save of the season, throwing the final two innings. Fritz gave up one earned run on four hits.

Freshman Chelie Senini headlined Nevada's offensive outburst, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two stolen bases. Senini's two stolen bases set a new single-season program record for most stolen bases (23). Seniors Kenzi Goins and Sierra Mello also put together standout performances at the plate. Both went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run. Freshman Sam Oliver added offensive power, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Junior shortstop Lauren Gutierrez exploded at the plate with one hit, two sacrifice flies and four RBI. Senior center fielder Sadaria McAlister had an efficient plate performance after going 1-for-1 and drawing two walks. Left fielder Ashley Salausa recorded a double and scored one run in the ballgame.

HEAR FROM CHELIE SENINI
"My approach at the plate was to get on base for my teammates, so they could get the hits and score us runs. As the lead-off hitter, my role is to get on base no matter how. It felt great to get a win for the seniors today. Having a strong connection with the senior class made today's win more momerable and meaningful for all of us."

HEAR FROM KENZI GOINS
"Today's win was a total team effort. Our defense made every play and even made the hard plays look routine. All three pitchers did their job and gave us fire. We didn't let up all day on offense. We had clutch, big hits when there were runners in scoring position. I went to the plate feeling loose and just wanted to enjoy the moment out there with my teammates while helping us get a win."
