FRESNO, Calif. – The Nevada softball team (17-13, 11-6) dropped a pair of games to first-place Fresno State (29-7, 13-1) on Saturday at Margie Wright Diamond. Nevada lost the first game, 3-0, and fell in the second, 6-0.
In the first game, Nevada was paced offensively by seniors Haley Burda and Sierra Mello, who went 2-for-3. Chelie Senini, Sadaria McAlister and Kenzi Goins each added a hit. Kendall Fritz tallied the loss in the circle, giving up one earned run and striking out five Fresno State hitters.
Mello recorded another 2-for-3 performance in game two, including two singles. Senini, McAlister, Lauren Gutierrez, Ashley Salausa and Burda each recorded a hit. Blake Craft picked up the loss on the mound. In three innings, Craft gave up four hits and struck out two Bulldogs hitters. Julia Jensen pitched the last three innings for the Pack, giving up two runs on two hits and striking out two.
