RENO, Nev. – The Nevada football team's Grit Run, a 5K race held alongside the annual Silver and Blue Spring Game, will be held virtually this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. The virtual 5K run or walk will be held on May 1, the same day as the spring game, and all proceeds will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The entry fee for the Grit Run is just $35 for adults and $15 for children 12 and younger. Each participant will receive an exclusive Grit Run t-shirt and a virtual bib.

Wolf Pack fans everywhere will have the opportunity to participate in the 5K. Participants can complete the 5K at their own convenience and do so in any location. Map out your own route or hit the treadmill for 3.1 miles, all at your own pace. Racers are encouraged to post their photos to social media using the hashtag #NevadaGrit5K. All participants who share their photos and use the hashtag will be entered into a drawing to win a Nevada football gift package.

Cystic Fibrosis, a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. The Nevada football program, created the Grit Run 5K in 2019 to raise awareness and funds for the fight against CF. Due to COVID-19, the race and the spring game were not held in 2020.

"The advancements in Cystic Fibrosis care have improved dramatically in my 53 years of life. Your support directly impacts the life-saving CF science that is impacting the lives of those living with CF. Join us for the second annual 5K Grit Run for CF and be part of the Cure!" said Kim Norvell, wife of Wolf Pack head coach Jay Norvell.

The Silver and Blue Spring Game is set for noon on May 1 at Mackay Stadium. Capacity for the game is still being determined and season-ticketholders who have already renewed for the 2021 season, rolled over their 2020 payment to 2021 or placed a deposit for 2021 season tickets will have the first opportunity to get the limited tickets to the spring game.
