Pack struggles in loss to No. 22/25 New Mexico

No. 22/25 New Mexico 31, Nevada 3
Friday, November 6, 2026
Reno, Nev. - Mackay Stadium

RENO, Nev. - No. 22/25 New Mexico marched 56 yards to a 7-0 lead on its opening drive and never looked back Friday night, defeating Nevada 31-3 at Mackay Stadium.

Scottre Humphrey capped the drive with a two-yard score and went on to add another score and finish with 107 rushing yards. Backfield mate Kiefer Sibley added a 31-yard scoring run just under three minutes to the end of the opening quarter as the Lobos (8-1, 5-0 MW) doubled their lead to 14-0.

The Wolf Pack (3-6, 2-3 MW) just could not respond on offense against a Lobo defense that came into the game allowing just 11.7 points per game. Quarterback AJ Bianco was under constant pressure, going down four times and finishing with just 106 yards on 14-for-31 passing. Meanwhile, the Wolf Pack finished at minus-9 yards in the rushing column although the lost yardage on sacks of Bianco played into that.

Nevada's best chance to get back into the contest came in the final minutes of the first half. Bianco hit Marshaun Brown down the left sideline for a 46-yard gain to the New Mexico 45 at the two-minute warning. A great reaching grab by running back Herschel Turner on 4th-and-2 from the Lobo 37 gave the Pack a first down at the 30 before a pass interference call against the Lobos brought Nevada to the Lobo 15 with 54 seconds left.

But three-straight incompletions forced the Pack to settle for a Jacob Fernandez field goal, which would end up the only Nevada points of the night.

Nevada's defense played valiantly but New Mexico's 38-plus minutes of possession eventually wore the Pack down. The Pack still made six tackles-for-loss, led by three from Dylan LaBarbera, while David Paine Jr. added a sack.

But Humphrey's second touchdown put the Lobos up 21-3 with 8:45 left in the third quarter and Cade Keith's 25-yard scoring grab from Toa Fa'avae put things away at 28-3 four minutes into the fourth.

Nevada returns to action Saturday, November 14 at NIU. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. on MW+.
