RENO, Nev. – The Nevada women's soccer team fell to the San Diego State Aztecs 3-1 on Sunday afternoon in their final game of the 2021 spring season.
The Aztecs controlled the momentum from the get-go, out shooting the Pack 8-1 in the first 45 minutes of play. Veronica Avalos notched two goals for the Aztecs in the first half.
Sophomore
Lizzy Hairston cut the deficit to one goal in the 70
th minute following a free kick from
Casey Crawford. The goal marked Hairston's second of the season.
With two minutes left to play, Avalos scored her third goal of the game on a penalty kick after
Hannah Souza fouled Anna Toohey in the box, extending the Aztec lead to 3-1.
The Aztecs outshot the Pack 17-3 and held a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal through 90 minutes of play. Goalkeeper
Kendal Stovall recorded six saves in net for the Pack.
