RENO, Nev. – Nevada football coach Jay Norvell announced Monday the hiring of Chad Savage and Riccardo Stewart for his coaching staff.
 
Savage, a Reno native, spent 2018-19 at Nevada as a graduate assistant before moving to the University of San Diego as a wide receivers coaches for the Toreros last season. He will coach tight ends at Nevada, and fifth-year assistant coach Timmy Chang will move outside to coach the wide receivers.
 
Stewart spent the 2020 season as the Wolf Pack's defensive analyst and his promotion into the assistant coaching role comes with guidance of the entire Wolf Pack secondary. Stewart, a former Arizona State standout defensive back, coached high school ball at a number of stops in Arizona and also spent four years at his alma mater as a character and development coach.
 
"We're excited to have Chad and Riccardo on our staff," fifth-year head coach Jay Norvell said. "Each brings a familiarity with our program, strong recruiting acumen and great energy, on and off the field."
 
Norvell also announced further position assignment changes on the defensive side of the ball. Second-year defensive coordinator Brian Ward, who coached linebackers last season, will move up and coach defensive tackles this year and Jackie Shipp will coach the Pack's defensive ends. Ronnie Wheat, who guided the safeties in his first season in 2020 will move up and coach linebackers.
