BOISE, Idaho – A dominant second quarter by the Nevada women's basketball team lifted the Wolf Pack past Boise State, 64-44, Sunday afternoon.
Sundays' victory improves the Wolf Pack to 9-8 overall and 5-7 in Mountain West play and is the first win over the Broncos (9-6, 6-6 MW) in eight games, dating back to the 2017-18 season. Nevada's defensive effort was arguably one of its best of the season, holding the defending MW Tournament champs to a season-low 44 points. Boise State entered today's game shooting 41.9 percent from the field, but was held to just 26.7 percent on offense on Sunday, including a 2-for-19 day from the 3-point line.
In a four-point game after the opening 10 minutes, the Wolf Pack began pulling away during a dominant second quarter that was all Nevada right from the start. The Pack did not allow the Broncos to score until the 4:54 mark of the quarter on a trip to the free throw line where Boise State converted on 1-of-2. Nevada's defense was still locked in holding its opponent without a field goal until just 26 seconds remained until halftime. Overall the Pack outscored the Broncos 17-3 in the period to take a 37-19 lead into the break.
While the remaining two quarters did not see the same level of dominance as the second, the Wolf Pack did not let up on the defending conference champions, outscoring them in the third and fourth as well. In the second half Nevada kept Boise State's offense in check, holding them to just 9-of-37 from the field and 1-of-11 from the 3-point line. Offensively for Nevada the Wolf Pack enjoyed one of its best quarters of the game in the fourth, shooting 42.9 percent to keep its foot on the gas and put the game away.
The 20-point victory is Nevada's largest of the season and largest since it defeated Cal Poly 71-40 on Dec. 28, 2019.
Leading the way on offense for the Wolf Pack was junior
Da'Ja Hamilton, who led all scorers with 18 points. Hamilton also added five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Fellow junior
Amaya West also scored in double figures adding 14 points. Nevada, which outrebounded Boise State 45-38, was balanced on the boards individually as

Nevada will continue its long road swing with a pair of games at Air Force next Monday and Tuesday from Colorado Springs, Colo.
