DAVIS, Calif. – The University of Nevada softball team (3-1) swept UC Davis in a doubleheader in Davis on Friday. Nevada came back from a 4-0 deficit to win game one, 5-4. In the second game, Nevada bounced to an early lead and defeated the Aggies 4-3. Pitchers Blake Craft (1-1) and Kendall Fritz (2-0) both recorded wins.
GAME 1
Freshman Blake Craft recorded her first win of the season in the first game after going five innings in the circle, recording three strikeouts. Sophomore Kendall Fritz registered the save after entering the game in the sixth. Offensively, Nevada tallied nine hits, including a two-run home run from senior Kenzi Goins in the fifth inning. Senior Sadaria McAlister and juniors Lauren Gutierrez and Ashley Salausa led the way offensively for the Pack, recording two hits each.
How It Happened
The Aggies claimed a 4-0 lead going into the sixth inning. Lauren Gutierrez singled to left to put a runner on first with no outs. Next, Ashley Salausa singled to center to advance Gutierrez to third. Haley Burda's sac fly to deep right plated Gutierrez and cut UC Davis' lead to three. On the next pitch, Kenzi Goins sent a two-run shot to center for her first home run of the season, putting the Pack within one run. Sam Oliver followed Goins with a single up the middle. Following Oliver, Chelie Senini singled to second base to put runners on first and second. Then, Sadaria McAlister's hard-hit grounder resulted in an Aggie throwing error that scored Jessica Sellers (running for Oliver) and Senini, giving Nevada a 5-4 edge.
GAME 2
Kendall Fritz tossed a complete game and recorded the win for the Pack in game two, giving up eight hits, walking five and striking out six. Offensively, freshman Sam Oliver led the Pack, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Kenzi Goins and Danielle Lew put together noteworthy efforts as well, going 2-for-4.
How It Happened
Sadaria McAlister drew a walk in the fifth inning to put a runner on with one out. Lauren Gutierrez's triple to right center pushed McAlister across the plate and gave Nevada a 1-0 lead. Nevada plated its second run of the fifth inning on Kenzi Goins' single to the pitcher.
The Aggies answered back, adding one run in the fifth to cut the Pack's lead to one.
Ashley Salausa drew a walk to begin the seventh. A Kenzi Goins single advanced Salausa to second. Then, freshman Sam Oliver singled down the right field line to push two more runs across the plate for the Pack.

Nevada heads to Sacramento State on Sunday for an 11 a.m. game against the Hornets.
