RENO, Nev. – Following her standout performance against Eastern Washington, Audrey Roden has been named Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday. It is the third weekly honor of her career.
"This honor means a lot for Audrey and our team," said head coach Amanda Levens. "Audrey and her teammates made some big plays against Eastern Washington that helped us win. We're proud of her performance, and we can't wait to continue watching her hard work pay off."
The West Linn, Ore., native helped the Pack clinch a 71-60 win over Eastern Washington on Sunday after netting a team-high 18 points. She also tied her career-high in steals with three and added a career-high two blocks, two rebounds and one assist. Against the Eagles, Roden shot 4-for-6 from three, knocking down two crucial, back-to-back threes in the fourth quarter to put Nevada permanently ahead. She drew a foul on her second three in the fourth, which led to a four-point play and gave Nevada a 55-52 lead. Roden scored nine of her 18 points in the fourth to lead Nevada to an 11-point victory.
Roden leads all Mountain West freshmen in scoring, averaging 12.4 points per game. Roden is tied for third in the conference in three-point field goals per game, averaging 2.2 per contest. Additionally, Roden is the only freshman in the Mountain West to tally multiple Freshman of the Week accolades so far this season.
Roden and Nevada meet Washington at 2 p.m. Monday for the final game of the Husky Classic.
