COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Nevada swim team finished the competition at the Art Adamson Invitational on Friday. The squad put up 327 points, good for fifth place.
The 1650 free started the session and Caitlyn McHugh had the best finish for Nevada in third with a time of 16:33.10. Followed by Reese Lamph, who finished in eighth (16:59.12), Mariana Vignoli in 10th (17:02.15), and Mikayla Dance in 11th (17:08.92).
Next was the 200-yard backstroke, Montana Lloyd was the lone representative for the Pack. Lloyd finished 13th overall with a time of 2:05.38.
Donna dePolo, in the 200 breaststroke, led the squad after finishing fifth overall with a time of 2:13.40, good for an NCAA B cut while Wiktoria Samula took 10th in 2:14.66. Dance finished in 12th (2:15.30) and Gianni Pitto took 14th (2:17.67). Valerie Kitchens and Jessica Kraus also represented the Pack, finishing 27th (2:28.62) and 31st (2:31.72), respectively.
Senior Julia Adamczyk and Benedict Nagy took 10th and 19th place in the 200 butterfly after swimming in 2:01.37 and 2:06.12
McHugh, Wijkhuijs, Jasko, and Berkenfield competed in the 400-free relay to conclude the night. The squad posted a time of 3:24.95 and picked eighth place to secure the fifth-place team finish.
The Nevada swim team are off until Jan. 22, when they travel to Las Vegas, Nev. for a dual against in-state rival UNLV. The dive team will be traveling to Flagstaff, Ariz. for their dual against the Rebels.
