Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Pack drops match against the Cowgirls

Reno, Nev - The Nevada Volleyball team fell to Wyoming Cowgirls on Saturday. The Pack put up a fight on set three but it was not able to close the set, and ended up getting swept in 25-15, 25-14 and 25-22.

Leading the Pack was the junior, Sydney Petersen with nine kills, .350 hitting percentage, a service ace and four total blocks. Junior, Andrea Alcaraz recorded 23 assists and 13 digs, while senior Kaila Spevak recorded 11 digs, one assist and one service ace. 

Going into set one, Wyoming had a four-score run in the beginning of the set, but the Pack was able to tie and get back on track. Nevada got the lead in 5-5 but the Cowgirls were able to tie the game again in 9-9 and closed the set in 25-15. 

In set two, the Cowgirls created a five-score run and the Pack was not able to recover, closing the set in 25-14. Petersen was leading the Pack with five kills in five attempts. Sophomore Reka Monteleone recorded three kills and five digs, while Alcaraz and Spevak recorded four in the set. 

A different story happened in set three, where the Pack was able to put up a fight against the Cowgirls, and ended up getting the game tied in 18-18. Nevada was able to pick up the lead, forcing Wyoming to call a timeout. The Cowgirls created a two point lead, and the Pack was not able to close the game. Leading Wyoming to close the match in 25-22.

NEXT UP
The Nevada Volleyball team will now hit the road for the next three matches. First stop will be San Jose, where they play the Spartans on Oct. 12. Next the Pack travels to Fresno, to play the Bulldogs on Oct. 17. Lastly, Nevada goes to USAF Academy to play Air Force on Oct. 21.
