DAVIS, Calif. - The University of Nevada (8-7) men's tennis split its two matches today at Golden State Invitational on the campus of UC Davis.  The Wolf Pack fell 4-0 in its first match to Portland (5-1) but rebounded with a 4-3 win over the host Aggies (7-7).

The Pack plays New Mexico State (7-7) at 9 a.m. tomorrow at UC Davis in the battle for fifth place at 9 a.m.

In the Portland match, the Pilots scored victories on courts 2 and 3 in doubles to secure the first point of the day.  Portland swept the three completed singles matches at No. 2, 5 and 6 to earn the 4-0 victory.

Senior Julien Evrard needed three sets to clinch the 4-3 victory for the Wolf Pack.  Playing on court 1 Evrard dropped the set 6-4 then evened the match with a 6-3 victory in the second set.  The third set went to a tiebreaker with Evrard winning 9-7.

The Aggies earned the doubles point with victories on courts 2 and 3.

UCD made it 2-0 with a straight sets victory by Chethan Swanson over the Pack's Daniel Dudockin at No. 4 singles.  Nevada scored points at No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 singles setting up the deciding point won by Evrard on court 1.
