LAS VEGAS (AP) Jalen Harris scored 29 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished five assists and Nevada defeated rival UNLV for the sixth straight time, pulling out an 82-79 win in overtime on Wednesday night.
Harris made the first of two free throws with 3.8 seconds left but Elijah Mitrou-Long's shot from well behind the 3-point line bounced off the backboard as time expired.
After Harris, the leading scorer in the Mountain West Conference, hit the go-ahead jumper with 1:21 to play, Bryce Hamilton missed on two possessions for the Runnin' Rebels. It was Hamilton's jumper with 27 seconds to go that tied it in regulation and the game went to overtime after he rebounded Harris' last-second miss.
It was UNLV's program record sixth overtime game this season.
Harris' overtime miss at the free throw line made him 11 of 15 from the foul line where the Wolf Pack were just 18 of 28 (64%). However, UNLV was worse, making 12 of 25.
Jazz Johnson added 19 points and Nisr Zouzoua 12 for Nevada (16-10, 9-5 Mountain West Conference.
Hamilton led the Runnin' Rebels (12-14, 7-6) with 23 points. Amauri Hardy and Jonah Antonio added 14 apiece.
Nevada plays at New Mexico on Tuesday; UNLV plays the Lobos on the road on Saturday.

Nevada (16-10, 9-5 MW) improved to 16-10 and 9-5 in Mountain West play after defeating intrastate rival UNLV (12-14, 7-6 MW) 82-79 in overtime at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas tonight.
With the victory Nevada improved to 16-10 overall and 9-5 in MW play. The Pack moved into a tie for second place in the conference standings.
Nevada next plays at New Mexico (17-9, 6-7 MW) on Tuesday.
The Pack has won the last six meetings with UNLV and the last five games played at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
The overtime game was the first of the season for the Wolf Pack and the first win in overtime over the Rebels.
Junior Jalen Harris was a point shy of his fifth consecutive game of 30 or more points finishing with a game-high 29 points. In the two games with UNLV this season he scored 57 points. Harris posted a game-high in points for the 13th time this season, led the Pack in scoring for the 17th time, scored in double figures in the 22nd consecutive game and a team-high 23 times has scored in double figures this season. He has 15 games of 20 or more points which also leads the team.
Harris scored his 1,000 career point in the game and now has 1,001 in 63 games, an average of 15.9 points per contest. He scored 463 of the points in two seasons at Louisiana Tech and has 538 in 25 games of his junior year at Nevada.
Harris posted his second double-double of the season as he grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds to go along with the 29 points. The 14 rebounds is the high for any Wolf Pack player this season. It was the fifth time he had a game-high in rebounds The Dallas native also had a game-high five assists marking the 11th game he posted a game-high in assists.
Senior Lindsey Drew grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds and dished four assists. Drew is now three assists from 500 in his career and would become the first 900 point, 600 rebound and 500 assist player at Nevada.
Senior Jazz Johnson scored 19 points reaching double figures for the 21st time this season. Johnson was 4-of-8 from behind the arc giving him 17 games of making three or more 3s in a game.
Senior Nisré Zouzoua scored 12 points reaching double figures for the third game in a row, 14th time this season and sixth time in the last seven games. Zouzoua moves past 1,300 career points in the win and now has scored 1,305 points in his college career, 1,025 came in his two seasons at Bryant.
Nevada won the rebounding battle by 52-51.
