Nevada seeks sixth consecutive win over intrastate rival UNLV Wednesday

RENO, Nev. –
Nevada (15-10, 8-5 MW) will look to extend its win streak to six games over intrastate rival UNLV (12-13, 7-5 MW) on Wednesday night in Las Vegas at 7 p.m. The Wolf Pack won the first meeting 86-72 in Reno as junior Jalen Harris scored a game-high 28 points.

The Rebels have three players scoring in double figures led by Bryce Hamilton's 14.9 points per game with Amauri Hardy close behind at 14.1 points per outing. Donnie Tillman is the third player scoring 10.5 points per contest.   Cheikh Mbacke Diong leads UNLV grabbing 8.4 rebounds per game and Hamilton is second at 5.1 per contest.

Harris leads the Pack and MW scoring 21.2 points per game and his 25.7 in conference play is also first.  Senior Jazz Johnson returned the lineup after missing two games and scored 13 points in the win over SJSU.  Johnson is second on the team and seventh in the MW averaging 16.1 points per game.  

Lindsey Drew tops the team with his 4.4 assists per game to rank fourth in the conference.  Drew is third on the team scoring 11.2 points per game. Drew has scored 908 points, grabbed 612 rebounds and dished out 493 assists in his Pack career.

Senior Nisré Zouzoua has scored 15 points in each of the last two games and reached double figures in five of the last six contests.   On the season he is averaging 9.6 points per game and 13.8 points in the last six games.

THE SERIES
UNLV leads the series 60-30.  Head coach Steve Alford is 9-7 versus the Rebels.

HARRIS OSCAR ROBERTSON NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK AND MW PLAYER OF THE WEEK 
    Junior Jalen Harris was named the Feb. 9 Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week and Feb. 10 Mountain West Player of the Week after helping the Pack to a pair of wins.  He is the first Nevada player to garner the Oscar Robertson Nationally Player of the Week honor and was named the MW Player of the Week for the third time this season. 
    As the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week, Harris was nominated for the weekly award, which was chosen by a representative of the USBWA board of directors from a list of Division I conference players of the week. Once again, the USBWA will select a Division I men's National Player of the Week each Tuesday throughout the season. The USBWA has named Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week since the 2009-10 season.    
    Harris, a 6-5 junior from Duncanville Texas, averaged averaged 35.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists while playing 36.5 minutes per game in a pair of lopsided conference wins over Air Force and San Jose State.
    Last Tuesday, Harris scored a career-high 38 points in the 88-54 win over the Falcons, after sinking a career-high six three-pointers. He added six rebounds and had four assists in the game. On Saturday, he scored 32 points against the Spartans in the 95-77 win to go with five rebounds and three assists.
    Harris has scored 30 points in four straight games and his 38-point outburst was a career high. In the two games last week, he shot 56.8 percent from the field (25-of-44), 61.1 percent (11-of-18) from behind the arc and was 9-for-9 at the free throw line.

HARRIS FIRST NEVADA PLAYER WITH FOUR CONSECUTIVE 30-POINT GAMES
    Junior Jalen Harris became the first player at Nevada in the NCAA I era that began in 1969 to score 30 or more points in three consecutive games and added a fourth with 32 points in the win over SJSU.  The third was a career-high 38 points in the win over Air Force. Harris had 30 at Boise State and 31 at Colorado State in the previous two games. The 38 points is the high in the Mountain West this season.
        In the last four games he is averaging 32.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.  From the field he is shooting 53.8 percent, 48.6 percent from behind the arc and 94.1 percent at the free throw line.  Of the 131 points 88 have come in the second half.  He made a career-best six 3s on eight attempts in the 38-point game against Air Force.
    In total he has six games of 30 or more points this season and is one-of-five players in NCAA I with six or more games of 30 or more points this season. He is the only NCAA I player that has four consecutive 30-point games this season.  His first of the season was 31 at Air Force and he had 31 at Utah State.
    The six games is the most by a MW player since Josh Adams had nine and Elijah Brown six in the 2015-16 season.  Jimmer Fredette was the last MW player with four in a row and it was five in a row, the last five games of his college career in 2011.
    Harris joins Ken Green (1982-83), Romie Thomas (1970-71) and Edgar Jones (1976-77) as the only Wolf Pack players with six games of 30 or more points in a season.  Green had 11, Thomas eight and Jones seven.

NEVADA TIES SCHOOL RECORD WITH 17 3S VERSUS NEW MEXICO
    Nevada tied the school record making 17 3-pointers on 35 attempts in the 96-74 win over New Mexico, on Jan. 25.  The Wolf Pack also made 17 3s at Pacific on Nov. 18, 2017 on 34 attempts.
    In nine of the last 11 contests Nevada has made 10 or more 3-pointers. On the season 17 times the Wolf Pack has made 10 or more 3s in a game.
    Nationally the Pack is seventh with 252 made 3s and 13th making 38.7 percent of its 3-pointers.  Nevada's 652 attempted 3s ranks 29th and 10.1 made per game is 10th.  The Pack is also doing it defensively ranking ninth in field goal percentage defense in NCAA Iat 28.4 percent.
    In the MW Nevada leads in 3-pointers attempted, 3-pointers per game, 3-point percentage and 3s made.

ALFORD WINS 600TH GAME AS PACK DOWNS NEW MEXICO 96-74
    First-year Nevada head coach Steve Alford won his 600th career game when the Wolf Pack defeated New Mexico 96-74 on Jan. 25. Alford coached at UNM for six seasons and won 155 games during his time with the Lobos.  Alford is 602-308 in his 29th season.  
    Alford is the 16th active NCAA I head coach with 600 career wins.  He earned 78 victories at Manchester, 78 at Missouri State, 152 during his time at Iowa, 155 coaching at New Mexico and 124 at UCLA.   
    Alford's father Sam coached 29 seasons of high school basketball posting a record of 452-288.  The two have combined for 1,054 victories.  Steve played for his father at New Castle Chrysler High School in Indiana.  He played for legendary coach Bob Knight at Indiana and helped the Hoosiers to the 1987 NCAA Championship.  Knight posted a record of 902-371 in 42 seasons.

DREW MAKING MARK IN NEVADA RECORD BOOK
    Senior Lindsey Drew has played 124 games at Nevada and started 118.  The 118 starts is tied for fourth at Nevada.  Nick Fazekas (2004-07) is next on the list with 119 starts.  He has played in 89 wins during his time which is sixth with Brandon Fields (2006-10) fifth with 90.  His 3,751 minutes played is fifth at Nevada.
    Drew's 159 steals is sixth in Wolf Pack history with Matt Williams (1987-91) fifth with 162.  His 493 assists is third.  In the home win over Air Force he scored his 900th point and now has 908 and grabbed his 600th rebound and has 612.

PACK PLAYERS RANKED AMONG NCAA I ACTIVE CAREER LEADERS
    Jazz Johnson, Lindsey Drew, Jalen Harris and Nisré Zouzoua are all ranked among the NCAA I career leaders.
    Johnson's 1,473 points is 61st, 42.2 percent 3-point shooting is 26th, 121 games played is 107th, and 239 made 3s is 27th.  Drew ranks 93rd with 612 rebounds, 22nd with 493 assists, 36th with 159 steals, ranks 14th with a 2.2 assists turnover ratio and is 62nd with 124  games played.
    Harris is 40th shooting 85.3 percent at the free throw line and is 46th scoring 15.7 points per contest.  Zouzoua's 194 made 3-pointers is 96th.

HARRIS LEADING THE PACK
    Junior Jalen Harris has scored in double figures in the last 21 games which includes six games of 30 or more points at Air Force (31), at Utah State (31), at Colorado State (31), at Boise State (30), home versus Air Force (38) and SJSU (32).  The 38 points is his career high and the high in the Mountain West this season.  He made a career-best six 3s on eight attempts in the AF home win.
    He is the only player in the MW to have six games of 30 or more points this season.  The six games is the most by a MW player since Josh Adams had nine and Elijah Brown six in the 2015-16 season.  
    He joins Ken Green (1982-83), Romie Thomas (1970-71) and Edgar Jones (1976-77) as the only Wolf Pack players with six games of 30 or more points in a season.  Green had 11, Thomas eight and Jones seven.
        Harris' layup with just under 9 seconds to play against Wyoming gave the Pack the 68-67 victory. At CSU his 3-pointer with 5.3 seconds to play put the Pack up 91-90 before the Rams won on a last second shot.
    Harris tops the team in scoring (21.2 ppg) and is second in rebounding (6.0 rpg) and assists (4.1 apg).  The 21.2 points per game leads the Mountain West and 25.7 in MW play is also first.  The assist numbers rank fifth in the MW and the rebounds ninth.
    In 13 of the last 20 games he has scored 20 or more points including the six 30-point games.  In the win over Santa Clara he posted his first career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.  His game-high eight assists left him two shy of a triple double.
    In 12 games he posted game highs in points, 10 times he posted a game-high in assists and four times a game-high in rebounds.
    From the field he is shooting 45.5 percent, 38.8 percent from behind the arc and 84.7 percent at the free throw line to rank third  in the conference.
    Harris injured his foot in the season opener with Utah playing just 8 minutes and missed the LMU game.  He returned to the lineup against UT Arlington and scored a game-high 24 points in the victory.

JOHNSON SCORES 13 IN RETURN TO LINEUP
    Wolf Pack senior Jazz Johnson missed the Boise State and Air Force games with a shoulder injury but scored 13 points in his return to the lineup against San José State. Johnson ranks second on the team and is seventh in the MW scoring 16.1 points per game.  
    Johnson's 20 games scoring in double figures is second on the team.  He scored a career-high 34 points in the Pack's home win over Boise State.  Johnson made a career-best eight 3-pointers on 12 attempts.  The eight made 3s and 13 made field goals all rank second in the MW this season while the 34 points is third.
    The eight made 3s is tied for the third most in a game at Nevada.  He also tied for game honors with a career-high seven rebounds.
    Johnson scored his 1,400th career point in the Wyoming win with 740 coming at Portland.  Currently in 121 games he has scored 1,473 points.
        He has made a 3-pointer in each game this season and three or more in 16 contests.
    Johnson has been knocking down the 3-pointers at a high rate this season having made 74-of-175.  The 74 made 3s is 15th nationally, 3.2 per game is 13th, and 42.3 3-point percentage is 17th.  He tops the MW in all three categories.
    Five times he has scored 20 or more points; 20 vs. LMU, 26 vs. USC, 25 vs. BGSU, 20 vs. SCU and the 34 vs. BSU.  In the USC, BGSU, SCU and BSU games the point totals were game highs.
    He is shooting 81.9 percent at the free throw line.
    At the Paradise Jam he made 60 percent of his 3-pointers connecting on 15-of-25 in three games.  In the title game he made 7-of-10.  

DREW DOING IT ALL IN FINAL SEASON AT NEVADA, SEVEN ASSISTS FROM 500
    The versatile Lindsey Drew is doing it once again in his fifth and final season at Nevada.  Drew missed all last year after rupturing his right achilles tendon at Boise State on 
Feb. 14, 2018.  Drew is seven assists from 500 and will become the first 900 point, 600 rebound and 500 assists player in Nevada history when reaches the mark.  Currently he has 908 points, 612 rebounds and 493 assists.  He also has 159 steals.
    The do everything guard returned with a flair scoring a career-high 30 points in his senior debut against Utah.  He also grabbed six rebounds and dished out eight assists.  In the next game he scored 24 points, had nine rebounds and five assists in a win over Loyola Marymount.  Both point totals were game highs.
    In 14 games he has scored in double figures which is the most double figure scoring games for him in a season, passing the 10 he had his junior year before the injury.  He leads the team in assists (4.4 apg) and rebounding (6.5 rpg).  From the field he is shooting 48.2 percent.  In total he is ranked in seven categories in the conference.
    Twice he has posted double-doubles with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the Paradise Jam Championship game win over Bowling Green.  Against TSU he scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season and fourth of his career.
    In nine games he posted highs in assists; vs. Utah (8), LMU (7), UTA (4), at Air Force (6), vs. CSU (6), vs. BSU (9), at SJSU (5), vs. the AFA (4) and vs. SJSU (7).  The nine assists in the BSU game tied his career high and is the high for a Nevada player this season.  In another six games he posted game highs in rebounds; LMU (9), vs. Bowling Green (10), at Air Force (8), TSU (10) at BSU (10) and vs. SJSU (8).

ZOUZOUA ON FIRE FROM THREE
    Senior Nisré Zouzoua has provided a spark off the bench this season and in the New Mexico win led the Pack in scoring for the first time in his career with 20 points.  Zouzoua knocked down 6-of-7 shots from behind the arc vs. UNM.  The 20 points and six made 3s are both highs for him during his time at Nevada. At Colorado State he was a perfect 5-of-5 from behind the arc making 11-of-12 in the  two-game stretch.  
    Zouzoua started the game at Boise State and the home game with Air Force for the injured Jazz Johnson.  He scored five points at BSU and had 15 vs. the AFA.  Against SJSU he came off the bench and scored 15 points giving him back-to-back 15 point games.  In five of the last six games he has scored in double figures and is averaging 13.8 points, is shooting 52.7 (29-of-55) percent from the field and 54.5 (18-of-33) from behind the arc.
    In 13 games this season he has scored in double figures.
    He scored nine points in each of the first two games of the season which were then Nevada career highs.  Against UT Arlington he nearly doubled that netting 16 points, making 6-of-8 shots from the field of which 3-of-5 were from behind the arc.
    At the Paradise Jam he averaged 11 points per game. He scored 11 points in the win over Fordham and 15 in the victory against Valparaiso.

NEVADA TIED FOR THIRD IN MW STANDINGS
    Nevada is in a three way tie for third place in the Mountain West standings at 8-5.  
    San Diego State leads the conference with a perfect 13-0 record followed by Colorado State at 8-4.  UNLV is alone in sixth at 7-5.  
    New Mexico is seventh at 6-6.  Fresno State (4-9), Air Force (3-9), San José State (3-9) and Wyoming (1-12) are in spots 8-11.

HARRIS ADDS THIRD MW PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

FEB. 10 - Junior guard Jalen Harris has been selected as the Mountain West Player of the Week after helping Nevada to a pair of conference home wins.  It is the third time this season Harris has earned the honor.
    Harris scored a career-high 38 points in the 88-54 win over Air Force then scored 32 in the 95-77 victory against San José State. The 38 points is the high for any player in the MW this season.  The Dallas native has scored 30 or more points in each of the last four games and six times on the season.  He is the first Nevada player to score 30 or more points in four consecutive games and is just the fourth to have six or more games of 30 or more points in a season.
    In the win over the AFA he made a career-high six 3s on just eight attempts. Of his 70 points in the two games 40 were scored in the second half.
    Harris averaged 35 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and one steal playing 36.5 minutes per game during the week.  From the field he shot 56.8 (25-of-44) percent, 61.1 (11-of-18) from behind the arc and was a perfect 9-for-9 at the free throw line.

HARRIS' 32 POINTS POWER NEVADA PAST SAN JOSE STATE, 95-77


RENO, Nev. (AP) Jalen Harris had 32 points to carry Nevada to a 95-77 win over San Jose State on Saturday, the Wolf Pack's ninth consecutive home victory. Harris was out-dueled by the Spartans' Seneca Knight, who had a career-high 34 points.

Nisre Zouzoua had 15 points and six assists for Nevada (15-10, 8-5 Mountain West Conference). Jazz Johnson added 13 points.

Knight added eight rebounds in the losing effort for the visitors. Richard Washington had 16 points for the Spartans (7-17, 3-9).
