Taua named Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Week

RENO, Nev. – Following a win in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl last week, Nevada junior running back Toa Taua has been named the Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Week.

In the season finale last week against Tulane, Taua helped the Wolf Pack to a 38-27 victory to claim its seventh bowl win in program history. The 11-point win was the Pack's largest in its bowl history and marked the second win in three tries for Nevada head coach Jay Norvell in his four seasons with the Wolf Pack.

Taua was part of a Nevada rushing attack that totaled 209 yards on the ground. Taua finished with 102 rushing yards, his third 100-yard performance of the season and the eighth of his career. Fellow junior Devonte Lee also ran for over 100 yards in the game, which marked the first time Nevada had two players with over 100 yards rushing in a single game since Don Jackson and James Butler against Fresno State on Nov. 5, 2015.

Taua was also a threat in the passing game against Tulane, recording a team and career-high 77 receiving yards on six receptions. He posted two touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving. His receiving touchdown went for a career-long 44 yards and he added a 50-yard touchdown run on 4th-and-1 in the second quarter.

Nevada finished the 2020 season with a 7-2 overall record, placed third in the Mountain West and captured a bowl win.
