RENO, Nev. – The 2020-21 Nevada women's basketball schedule has been announced, including a new-look five-game non-conference schedule and a 20-game Mountain West schedule.
The Wolf Pack will play five non-conference games in late November and into December, with two Mountain West games mixed in. The remaining 18 league games will begin Dec. 31.
Nevada opens the 2020-21 season next week as it will host San Francisco on Friday, Nov. 27 and William Jessup the following day. The Wolf Pack will get its first taste of Mountain West action early in the season as it will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. to face Air Force on Dec. 4 and 6. Nevada will then begin to wrap up its non-conference slate with a road game at Sacramento State on Dec. 12, a home contest against Fresno Pacific on Dec. 18 and an away game at Saint Mary's on Dec. 21.
The Pack will close out 2020 and usher in 2021 with a pair of games against New Mexico from Lawlor Events Center on Dec. 31 and Jan. 2. Nevada will remain in Reno for another home series against San Diego State on Jan. 7 and 9. It's back to the road from there with a two-game series at Fresno State Jan. 14 and 16. Wyoming comes to town Jan. 22 and 24 before the Wolf Pack hits the road for two games at UNLV Jan. 30 and Feb. 1 and two games at Boise State Feb. 5 and 7. For its final three conference series' of the season, Nevada will host San Jose State Feb. 13 and 15, travel to Colorado State Feb. 19 and 21 and close out the regular season at home Feb. 25 and 27 against Utah State.
The 2021 Mountain West Championship will be held March 7-10 in Las Vegas.
It will be a new-look Wolf Pack for the 2020-21 campaign as the team returns six student-athletes from last year's roster, and welcomes in 10 newcomers. Returners include two seniors (
Nia Alexander,
LaPraisjah Johnson), two juniors (
Amaya West,
Da'Ja Hamilton) and two sophomores (
Alyssa Jimenez,
Dom Phillips). Alexander, Hamilton and Phillips all averaged six points per game last season, with Phillips leading the way at 6.6 points per game. Phillips was also named to the Mountain West All-Freshman team during her rookie season in 2019-20. The crop of newcomers includes four transfers and six freshmen.
Season tickets for the upcoming men's and women's basketball seasons at Nevada will not be available as the athletics department continues to comply with regulations related to capacity and size of gatherings.
With reduced capacity measures in place, the Wolf Pack is not anticipating being able to accommodate fans until the early part of 2021 at the earliest. The decision to continue with the reduced capacity was made in alignment with the University's ongoing mitigation efforts to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
Tickets won't be sold for Wolf Pack non-conference games through the end of December as family members and guests of the student-athletes, coaches and department will be accommodated first within the allotted capacity. If the department is able to accommodate fans for games after the first of the year, tickets would be sold on a single-game basis only.
Fans can also support the basketball programs and have their place in Lawlor for the 2020-21 season. Be on the lookout for more information coming soon on how to purchase personalized cutouts that will be sold for men's and women's basketball games at Lawlor Events Center.
