Harris scores 20 to lead Nevada over Colorado St. 67-61

Pack improves to 9-6 overall and 2-0 in Mountain West play

RENO, Nev. (AP) Jalen Harris scored 20 points and Nevada defeated Colorado State 67-61 on Wednesday night.

Zane Meeks hit four 3-pointers and scored 14 points for Nevada (9-5, 2-0 Mountain West Conference). Nisre Zouzoua added 10 points.

David Roddy had 17 points for the Rams (9-7, 0-3), Isaiah Stevens and Nico Carvacho had 13 points apiece with Carvacho grabbing.

Nevada led 39-25 at the half, making 6 of 15 from 3-point range while the Rams were 8 of 26 overall.

The Wolf Pack led by as many as 19 points before the midway point of the second half. But after Jazz Johnson's 3-pointer made it 52-33, Nevada missed its last eight 3-pointers and had five turnovers, allowing Colorado State to make it interesting. The deficit was just five before Johnson's jumper with 1 1/2 minutes to go and Harris made a layup with 46 seconds remaining.

Nevada (9-5, 2-0 MW) improved to 9-5 and 2-0 in Mountain West play after defeating Colorado State (9-7, 0-3 MW) 67-61 in a Mountain West game to start the New Year on Wednesday night at Lawlor Events Center..

Nevada hosts Boise State (10-5, 2-1 MW) on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Lawlor Events Center.  The game will air on CBS Sports Network.

First-year head coach Steve Alford is now four wins from 600 in his 29th season of coaching college basketball.  Alford is 596-303.

Senior Lindsey Drew scored his 800th career point in the game and has 806 points in 113 games at Nevada. Drew finished with a game-high six assists.

Junior Jalen Harris scored a game-high 20 points and tied teammate Johncarlos Reyes for team honors with seven rebounds.

It was Harris 10th consecutive game in doubles figures, sixth game of 20 or more points and fifth time the posted a game-high in points.  He has led the Pack a team-high eight times in rebounding.

Freshman Zane Meeks scored in double figures for the third consecutive game and sixth on the season finishing with 14 points that all came in the first half.  Meeks tied his season-high with six rebounds and four made 3-pointers.

Senior Nisré Zouzoua was the third Pack player in double figures finishing with 10 points.

The Pack had a season-high eight blocks with six different players recording a block.

Nevada's bench outscored CSU 26-9.

Nevada has won the last eight meetings with the Rams and holds a 15-9 advantage in the series.

The Pack led by 19 points with 13:11 and for 35:30 of the game.
