RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada women's tennis team opens the spring schedule this weekend with three matches in southern California. Head coach
Guillaume Tonelli will lead the Wolf Pack against UC San Diego on Thursday, San Diego Friday and close out the opening weekend at Point Loma on Saturday.
Junior
Anastaysha Gorbacheva led the Pack during the fall season with 10 singles wins and will carry an eight-match win streak into the weekend. Sophomore
Selina Turulja posted seven singles victories during the fall and has won her last four matches. Freshman Liza Mintuzova has also won her last four matches and was 7-3 in the fall.
Freshmen
Arina Gumerova and
Carla Del Barrion each won five singles matches in their first semester on campus. Del Barrio has won her last five matches and Gumerova her last four.
Anastasia Luneva went 4-2 in her first collegiate fall schedule. Freshman
Ksenia Shikanova posted a 3-3 record and sophomore Roos van Reek was 2-3 in singles play during the fall.
The Pack used seven doubles combinations in the fall with Turulja and Shikanova posting the top record at 5-2. Mintuzova and van Reek finished with a 4-2 mark.
