RENO, Nev. - The Nevada volleyball split day one at the San Francisco Tournament after sweeping Purdue Fort Wayne in three straight sets and falling to the Highlanders of UC Riverside in three straight sets. The Pack moves to 3-2 on the season.

The Pack posted a .283 hitting percentage over the course of the match, while holding the Mastodons to a .178. The team also combined for 14 blocks, another double digit match for the Pack and another five for the freshman Sydney Petersen.
With the lock down defense from the front and the attack percentage from Camryn Rocha, Brianna Souza and Kassie McGill, the Pack secured the match with 39 kills and only 11 errors, with one one attack error committed in the third set for a nearly perfect kill percentage.
A 25-21 win in the first set, followed by a 25-23 win in the second, the match looked like it was going to be a close one. However in the third set, the Pack pulled away, starting on an 11-1 scoring run after back-to-back aces from
Mandalay Rennon. Senior,
Ryan Blackwood secured the set and the match after an ace of her own ended it, 25-15.
UC Riverside 3, Nevada 0
In the first three-set loss of the season, the Pack struggled to find the offensive flow it had in the first match. All three sets had the same result, 25-23, in favor of the Highlanders.
Afoa and Rocha both recorded 10 kills and 11 points each while Burns had 31 assists and just six digs. Petersen lead the team in hitting percentage (.235) and added yet another five blocks to her resume; she currently leads the Pack with 28.0 blocks total.
As a squad, Nevada hit .151 in the evening match while UC Riverside had just a .181.
