RENO, Nev. – University of Nevada head women's tennis coach Guillaume Tonelli has announced the addition of five freshman to the roster for the 2019-20 season which gets underway Friday at the Cal Invitational.  Liza Mintusova, Carla Del Barrio, Arina Gumerova, Anastasia Luneva and Ksenia Shikanova will start their college careers this season for the Wolf Pack.
 
Mintusova comes to the Pack from Moscow where she attended School Number 2054 and graduated in 2019.  Her most memorable moment was playing a three and one half hour match that went three sets and she won.  Her sports hero is Serena Williams.  The daughter of Igor Mintusov and Yelena Khanga has yet to decide on a major but will minor in english, math and psychology.  Coming from an athletic family her father was a runner at Moscow State University. 
 
From Vigo, Spain Del Barrio attended school at Colegio and played for coach Toze Silva Pinto.  In addition to tennis she competed in cycling for six years, swimming for seven seasons and took two years of ballet.  The tennis team captured the Absolute Galician championship in 2017 and 2019.  She is the daughter of Fernando Del Barrio Arribas and Sonia Blanco Gonzales.
 
Gumerova is from Ufa, Russia where she attended Children's Academy.  In 2011, 2013 and 2015 she was the champion of Ufa, in 2011 she captured the Sochi championship, the Bashkortostan championship four times 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2018, Kazan championship in 2012, Orenber area title in 2015 and the Mordovia title in 2017. From 2013-28 she played for Bashkortostan.  She is the daughter of Elza and Ayrat Gumerov.
 
From Moscow, Russia Lunevada attend School Number 167 of Marshall Govorov where she played tennis and graduated in 2019.  She chose the Pack over LSU, North Carolina, James Madison, and Fordham.  Her career highlight was a four hour win in the ITF G2 in Shymkent in the Republic of Kazakhstan despite suffering from sunstroke.  The daughter of Tatiana and Andrey Luneva she plans to major in Psychology at Nevada. 
 
Shikanova joins the Pack after attending the School of Olympic Reserve in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia where she played for Mike Vinyar.  In addition to tennis she participated in figure skating, gymnastics and volleyball.  In tennis she captured the ITF doubles and placed second the previous year.  She reached the semifinals of the ITA and was Russian national tournament winner in singles.  The daughter of Natalia and Vadim Shikanova she plans to major in criminal justice and become a lawyer.
